Hospitals re-arrange patient flow order to cut down on Stationary costs and minimize waiting time

Medical Information Systems form an essential part of health care services because they collect process and store medical data. They support decision making process by medical workers.
Functions within Health Facilities are dependent on collected information on performance indicators. This information is used for patient care, decision making for the facility and feeds into monitoring systems at the District, Diocesan Health office, UCMB and at the National level.

In the past all UCMB facilities had all patient records handled manually on paper and as you can imagine, the bulk of patient records are generated at the patient level and there is duplication of records because each time a patient visits a hospital, a new set of paper based record is generated. This makes reference to these records very cumbersome and failure to get accurate patient history by medical workers could lead to misdiagnosis and administration of wrong medicines leave alone the fact that the amount of time a patient spends at the facility increases in addition to material resources used like paper forms.

Under the C4C health systems strengthening project, 14 hospitals comprising of 43.7% of all the hospitals in the UCMB network have been supported to Automate Patient Records Management which would ease data managed and support decision making and timely access to patient records. The system in use is Care2x an open source product. It was customized to emulate the typical data flow in a hospital setting.

Helecare’ rolls out New Look for Patient Measurements

As a standard practice, whenever a patient visits a health facility for medical treatment, one of the first activities to be carried out on a patient is to take measurements. The measurements that are taken from the patient include,:- Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Temperature, Head Circumference, Respiration, Pulse, RBS, MUAC and oxygen circulation among others. The height and weight measurements are used to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI) of the patient being worked on.

The new helecare design allows several measurements to be taken whenever necessary. It also allows quick and faster navigation from one set of measurements to another.

The drug distribution framework in Helecare – care2x

Management of drugs is one of the core challenges faced by health service providers. They need to know the current stock of drugs in the facility when they are to expire, the cost, batches and balances.

It is not common for clinicians to prescribe drugs that do not exist in their dispensaries. Whereas such a prescription may be out of a serious necessity, several alternative drugs with the same effect may be available in the facility. When such a scenario happens they dispenser usually sends back the patient for the clinician to make adjustments. With helecare, we have made it very easy for clinicians to know in real-time the currently available drugs in the system.

This functionality has greatly reduced on movement of patients back and forth within the hospital facilities.

Helecare2 extends to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to Anti Natal Clinic (ANC)

The delivery of health care for many hospital service providers includes services that deal with expecting mothers. In most hospital facilities, expectant mothers are not considered as patients as explained by a medical doctor that pregnancy is temporary conditions. So pregnant mothers attend Ante Natal Clinic where they get a services related to the pregnancy, therefore use Electronic Health Records help in cases .with the use Electronic Health Records this will easy the work of healthy workers to work on pregnant mothers as faster as possible to save life.this method of Electronic Health Records has been adapted by many hospital facilities using Helecare. why not try this Electronic Health Records and experience easy work flow

In the Helecare system pregnant mother can record details about the current pregnancy as well as obstetric history. In line with the ministry of Health, the current system complies the standard ANC card including details about the family members, HIV status among others. The ANC module is currently in use at several facilities and we have been told of increase in patient follow up and compliance

If you have ever noticed, hospitals and health centers in Uganda and keen at taking your records whenever you go for treatment.

Part of this information is intended for reporting the district and headquarters. The ministry has provided a set of forms and reports described in the Health Information Management System manual (HMIS).

Most hospitals and heath centers generate these reports by manually going through these reports and tallying. This is very time consuming, error prone and a above all a boring brainless task.

Helecare2x a product provided by decimal works ltd helps to auto generated these reports for submission to relevant authorities.
